THE QUINLAN GROUP NEWS
Without doubt, one of our best residential projects to date, this family home occupies a huge cliff top site overlooking the Narrabeen basin. It was originally conceived as a series of fingers which work around the existing trees and cascade down over the existing rock formations. Later, as the functional and pragmatic requirements came into play, the building has realised itself more as two arms which shield the inhabitants from the street…
These images are a sneak peak at yet another successful pairing between The Quinlan Group and Darryl Gordon Design (shot on the trusty old 4S.) This interior remodelling of a two storey 70's bungalow has connected the previously disjointed levels into a series of elegant spaces which flow seamlessly together.
Meet Christian Cabrera and Jefferson Lopez. Christian and Jefferson are heading up the new Quinlan Group Philippines office. This office has been established to manage the ever growing volumes of construction documentation we are producing ourselves, and to offer quality controlled documentation services to other members of the industry. The office has already assisted in the production of seven complete documentation packages for various…
The Quinlan Group started construction on two very different residential alterations and additions projects this month. The first is a sophisticated curvilinear urban infill with a completely remodelled street facade, and the second is a more playful rectilinear rear extension with an integrated pool cabana. These projects highlight the potential flexibility and diversity of contemporary design aesthetics.
A more dramatic tilt on the Bellevue Hill mansion, this recently completed three story home includes six bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, two living areas, a four car garage, cantilevered swimming pool and a lift. The private areas of the dwelling have been set along the south eastern edge of each level, allowing the living areas to connect from the front gardens to the back gardens along the northern boundary. This enables the main…
Nestled confidently into the heritage confines of the Toxteth Estate in Glebe, this hard lined contemporary extension provides a striking contrast to it's traditional surroundings. Finally, Councils are starting to realise that the best way to celebrate our heritage is through comparison, not imitation.

Our combined lobby retail and cafe at the new Chris O'Brien Lifehouse launched last week with an official function attended by the Prime Minister. The 400 sq.m facility comprises formal and informal lounge areas, a cafe with community table and standard seating, a Campos coffee bar, outdoor seating, and the official Lifehouse merchandise retail outlet. All these disparate functions were designed around the movement of pedestrian traffic…
7 years after the original design was finished, we were approached to create a new parent’s retreat, with master bedroom, sitting room, ensuite and powder room in this substantial Kensington Residence. The objective was to seamlessly integrate our additions into the existing contemporary design, without compromising or disrupting it. The result is a sun filled addition of extremely high quality finishes and spaces that feel as if they…
Eleven years after it graced the cover of Perth Weekly, our first ever project is back on the cover, this time in the Weekend West. We think the old girl has aged quite well ...
Every now and then in architecture, the stars align. You find an adventurous and generous client, a great site, easy approval process, focused builder and exceptional trades. It’s extremely rare; however when it does occur, and if you’re ready for it, that’s when magic can happen. The Parker Residence Sydney. We think it’s pretty much flawless, and we've never said that before.
This proposal for executive waterfront accommodation in Sydney’s south will set a new architectural benchmark for the area, creating a series of three story dual occupancy townhouses with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, four car lock up garages, two living areas, dedicated boat storage and boat ramp, elevated entertaining terraces and plunge pools.
This enormous two hundred metre long facility is a recent proposal for the highest standard of yacht storage. This structural glass box is complete with boutique club and entertainment facilities.
The scaffold has recently come off the latest addition to our residential development stable, this time in Lennox Head. Scheduled for completion in early 2014, this dual occupancy development has been designed to be utilised either in one line, or as separate units. The living areas are located upstairs cradled between integrated privacy louvres; taking advantage of the panoramic beach views whilst still remaining intimate.
Another Quinlan Group project has found itself on the cover of a magazine - this time heading up the Home Renovation yearbook from Universal Magazines (publishers of Grand Designs.) The project featured is a boutique terrace house refurbishment in Darlinghurst, which also garnered nine pages of editorial inside the magazine - a new record for the company. image.pdf

Recently, we were commissioned to undertake our two hundred and twentieth project, so we thought it fitting to put together a quick retrospective of some key projects from the last hundred or so. Thanks again to everyone for their support over the past twelve years.
In the second half of this year we have lodged yet more tender bids with Compass/Medirest; this time for Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals in Sydney, and for the Lyell Mc Ewen Hospital in Adelaide. This takes the total number of collaborations between our businesses to nine over the past two years. We look forward to continuing to grow this relationship into the future.
Our current favourite interior projects has been featured in multiple publications over the past few months, including The Contemporist and Trends Ideas websites, and eight pages of editorial in New Home Trends magazine. It is also being featured as the flagship project for NavLam veneers on their own website. Great to see other people enjoying the project as much as we did.
The Chris O'Brien Life House Cafe, Retail Outlet and Lounge was recently shortlisted in the World Interiors Retail and Hospitality Awards. We're really proud that this project held up against so much competition from projects with infinitely higher budgets and concept driven briefs.
Managing Director Justin Quinlan has been profiled in the "Meet the Designers" section of the latest issue of Grand Designs magazine. The issue also includes a ten page feature on one of our residential projects and an exerpt from Justin discussing advances in environmentally efficient building materials. The magazine is on the news stands now if you'd like to check it out, or follow the links on the website through to publications for…
